Yay for UMass!

So, I went to my UMass orientation from Sunday-Monday. And I'd like to say two things. A)It could've been much worse, but B)It could've been MUCH better. ;P It was really poorly organized and yadda, yadda, yadda...had me running around like crazy all of Monday and I almost didn't get to see any of my housing options at all due to stupid scheduling...but in the end it was okay, and I still love the school and can't wait to go there in LESS THAN TWO MONTHS.

(And...to all of you saying "WTF" at that picture, while I was at orientation my mom bought me a little stuffed animal with a UMass t-shirt...and it fit my Pip stuffed animal from Enchanted and it was too cute! My mom's the one who declared that I should take a picture of it, though...>_>)

Tallest Academic Library in the World

Lots of Green and Hills
(Mostly I like this picture because you can see the library in the distance from so far away.)

A lot of UMass looks like this...

Lake!

Probably my favorite spot on campus so far! The library courtyard. I just loooove how it looks.

In March, I made a very close friend in Japan online.
I talked to her almost every day since.
Recently she got very sick, and then she had an operation, and she was supposed to get better. And then, a few hours ago, I got message from her mother saying that she passed away. Followed by a long e-mail from her sister-in-law, filled with things that my friend wanted her to tell me.

Even though we never met in person, she's one of those people who I felt like I knew forever.
I can't believe that I'll never be able to talk to her again. I can't believe that she'll never be able to finish school or visit America or become an English teacher.

I can't believe that she's gone. Her poor, poor family.
She was supposed to get better.

I love the city. I decided that I wanted Subway for lunch, so I started to head to the one I knew about. On the way, I passed two other Subways. When I'm not looking for something, there's a ton of them. But when I am, forget it. One time, Marissa and I were so hungry that we declared that we actually wanted McDonald's. Nowhere to be found. Just the other day, I had trouble locatiing a Starbucks. You wouldn't think that to be possible here. All these places hide, I'm telling ya. They only reveal themselves when you don't need them anyway. I don't mind being here alone-it's fun-but just sometimes, I really wish I had someone to run around in circles with. Ah well, I have my new mp3 player with me and I might drag my butt down to Chinatown. I can't remember where to get the train from, but I'm feeling rather sheeplike today, so I should be able to wing it. I just wish I could go to karaoke! I just finished my lunch (believe it or not, I mean that the food is gone XD) so Snape is off to Chinatown now! Maybe.

I almost wish that I was going to college here in NYC. For some reason, I'm at my happiest when I'm in this city. Often times, my mood soars when I'm here and drops significantly when I leave the city. I wish that I could stay here for the rest of the summer. Manhattan makes me feel at home. It's something about being around all these people-about being with so many people but being far apart from them at the same time. Maybe it's silly, but it gives me an indescribable rush of happiness. I don't want to go back to New Jersey-but I need to be on a bus in like half an hour. XD

So, a little while ago, my dad woke me up and said, "Here, talk to this woman about your student loan." And then proceeded to hand the phone to me. Still more than half asleep, I tried to answer questions and give information when I didn't even know what I was talking about in the first place. The best part was this conversation:

The woman: "So, how did you hear about us? Other than your dad waking you up."

Me: "Um. Who am I talking to?"

I felt like such an idiot. Apparently, I was talking to Chase, the bank that my dad works for. But it would have been nice if he had told me that. DDDDD:

Anyway, though...11 days until orientation! ;DDDD
